I never understand why people smoke. Is it to be cool?

I started for the nicotine buzz, kept it up because it was relaxing and a stress reliever.

They say it relaxes them or they just can't stop. I tried smoking and I would get this shock in my chest, so it didn't work out for me. Maybe I wasn't smoking right. Who knows

I smoke cigars for relaxation purposes and because I enjoy the taste of certain brands. (Al capone's mini cigars rum dipped flavor are probably my favorite) and my buddy smokes cigs because they give a relaxing effect that you could probably compare to 1 to 2 puffs of weed. Not anything that can **** you up but a small rush to relax you.

initially most people smoke for the headrush it gives them, after the headrush wears away then people usually stay smoking because of addiction and habit

I can understand pot, but not cigarettes.

Did you...Okay, you did say that.

I'll reiterate. It's good for relaxing. If you understand pot then how can't you understand cigarettes?

well marijuana alters the chemicals in your brain, while cigarettes do nothing.

I'm sorry, have you ever heard of Nicotine?

Ah yes. It doesn't affect one's brain as much as THC does, though. (Yes, I do know they aren't the same and do different things.) It stimulates and relaxes at the same time. But in my opinion, it wouldn't be worth it. Nicotine is highly addictive, physically and mentally. The cons outweigh the pros.

And does everyone think the same as you? No. There's your answer.

Bah, it just doesn't seem worth it. Both my grandfathers died due to cigarette related complications, maybe that's why I'm biased.

Maybe. And maybe my family's history with dementia and diabetes well before when the effects would take their greatest toll made me not care. Big world and many people have their different reasons.

I don't know why they start, but it's an addiction afterwards

i started because it gave me a headrush, i kept smoking after that because it helped me relax. now I'm trying to quit. but its hard. its not just a chemical addiction, it's a psychological one, I always want a cigarette when i get into my car. it's an oral fixation as well.
