vr will die like it did in 90's
if it had an attachment that could register my punches and kicks i'd think about it, but currently to me its nothing more than playing a game with the screen close to eyes

AR is the future. 3D AR furniture, tapestries. 3D printed (or solid-holograms in the future, if possible to achieve in a commercial way) chairs, tables, sofas. Augmented neural pathways for visual cortex manipulation (making the room look brighter or vice versa. Only time will tell. Technophilia is love!!!!!

... from that statement I'm assuming you've never bothered to look up what VR tech we currently have. They do have systems which can register your arms and legs, there's lots of videos of people picking up stuff and interacting with objects using VR software. to put it simply you can play fruit ninja with VR where you pick up the katana and then go ape **** on some fruit.

I'm on the side that it will be a long ass time before VR is the norm, especially considering it's a peripheral that costs the same as a console.
User avatar #26 to #25 - alcoholicsemen ONLINE (01/11/2016) [-]
time will prove me wrong then
User avatar #27 to #26 - feedtehtrollz (01/11/2016) [-]
well you're not wrong, I mean it may fall back into obscurity but my opinion is it will become the norm in 10-20 years.

i dont even understand that game man
User avatar #37 to #34 - clavatninenine (01/11/2016) [-]
that's what makes it fun for those of us that do.

It's a really niche title in that you have to be a weirdo to actually enjoy it since most of your time is spent moving from point a to point b in a 1:1 scale galaxy with 400,000,000,000 systems in it.
User avatar #73 to #37 - orangelightning (01/11/2016) [-]
So what? It's like Space Eurotruck simulator: With lasers ?
User avatar #78 to #73 - clavatninenine (01/11/2016) [-]
Basically yeah. Although in the future they will be adding first person shooter combat so it would be Euro Truck Simulator in free-roam with the occasional need to get out your retractable machine guns and defend your cargo and the ability to get out of your truck and go shoot up a pirate base.
User avatar #39 to #37 - mrjbrown (01/11/2016) [-]
yea but is it a crafter or is there a mission cuz i had ttrouble figuring out lightspeed kept telling me something was off i had to go through the options to find the on switch and do it from there
User avatar #40 to #39 - clavatninenine (01/11/2016) [-]
It's mainly mission based, but a crafting system is coming in later. Basically it drops you out in the middle of Human Space with a basic ship and a thousand credits and you have to figure out your way in life. I personally enjoy bounty hunting and exploring.
User avatar #50 to #40 - afaik (01/11/2016) [-]
What I hate about this game is that it will be early access for 10 years.
I have it, and it has zero content.
User avatar #53 to #50 - clavatninenine (01/11/2016) [-]
I play it as a time killer when im bored of things with actual direction.
User avatar #55 to #32 - heartbleed ONLINE (01/11/2016) [-]
I'd like Elite if there was actually something to do besides trading, or aimlessly flying about... I mean combat's sorta fun but you need a decent ship to do that. I have high hopes for Star Citizen though.
User avatar #5 - battletechmech (01/10/2016) [-]
I'll wait until the oculus' price range goes down to the $100-150 range.

User avatar #28 to #14 - battletechmech (01/11/2016) [-]
clever xxsikoticxx to comment as anon only to thumb yourself up and me down, technology goes down in price as it goes on, I can pick up a PS3 for 100 bucks now, much better than the 600 they started at, sound familiar?
#30 to #28 - xxsikoticxx (01/11/2016) [-]
Didnt mean to post as anon Regardless yes you will probably be able to buy one an a decade or so when its very outdated, and possibly not even compatible with newer games/applications
User avatar #76 to #30 - battletechmech (01/11/2016) [-]
there's still plenty to play on the PS3, same reason why someone would still want to buy a SNES or a PS2. Sure it'll be outdated, but the current oculus requires a really beef computer to run well anyways, with the large resolutions and the more detail texture required at such a short distance.
User avatar #54 - superanonymouspers (01/11/2016) [-]
you know this made me think something interesting.

The oculus would be a fantastic way to teach a person how to do something. I.E. bake a cake. Because you can make as many mistakes as you need without all the hassle of cleaning it up.
#67 to #54 - anon (01/11/2016) [-]
oh no, cleaning is too much for you? boo hoo

I had some hype for oculus but not for $600, there is so many other better things to spend $600 on the only reason I personally want the oculus for is because there is going to be a game on it that helps correct lazy eye and it could really help me.

#15 - anon (01/11/2016) [-]
Can't wait for vr to die off. The whole craze is wasting developer's time and money on a glorified tech demo. Although it will be funny when all those early adopters realize that actual game studios won't waste their time on proper support, and their half-assed implementation makes the whole system worse than useless.
#12 - verycoolcat (01/10/2016) [-]
I got the DK2 for $350... and that was a stretch for me.
