Every ghost of a mamal, reptile, bird, marsupial etc will have left behind a body with a skeleton - that does not mean it becomes an animated/undead skeleton.

A skeletman is just reanimated bones, and a ghost is a soul who has yet to move on depending on the fiction . So yes, easily.

No. A ghost happens when the soul exists without the body and a zombie happens when a body lives without a soul, so they can exist together. But a skeleton happens when a soul gets stuck in a corpse.

Either the soul stays in the skeleton (usually by force, black magic used by necromancers) or it dwells the earth as a disembodied ghost

A story I got has a lich creating a ring together with a vampire that allows him to...shapeshift into his old human self, allowing him to be together with said vampire.
Just made me think of it.

That story is the product of years of me basically daydreaming. It's pretty much a whole franchise at this point. Which is all in my head...

I disagree. The skeleton is usually just the bones animated via the magic. The soul left it, whether or not it moved on, but animated bones are just animated bones. The only real trick to having a skeleton and a ghost, is finding the body of the ghost.
