No, **** you, it's the best ******* thing to exist and you're ******* **** for not liking it. Nah, you right, tho. It certainly has areas where improvements could be made, but that applies with literally everything. Even great shows like Overlord and JoJo could use a spit-shine every now and again.

True. I mean, I watched/enjoyed it for a while and really only stopped cause the fandom started getting on my nerves, but it's really understandable to see why a person wouldn't like it.

As the risk of being one of those people who says "It gets better1", looking back on the first season of MLP makes me seriously wonder why the hell I gave it even a second of my attention. The later seasons are definitely an improvement on S1.
That said, they're not exactly wildly different. If you didn't like the first season you're not going to find much to like in the others.

fair enough, and thank you for giving your input...
mainly i watched a few random episodes with friends who tried to get me into it, prettymuch the only one i remembered was the one with "Cheese sandwich" trying to take over setting up a party
and weird al (who voiced cheese) didnt make it enough to make me want to watch much more

i mean i`m not like "anti-pony" like a lot of people, it`s just not for me

I don't know. I think it's a show. (though I lost interest in it around s3 and stopped watching) so maybe it's gone downhill. I wouldn't know.

seriously though, i didnt even manage to season 3, i just couldnt do it (by that i mean i watched like 3-4 episodes and just wanted to murder the pony ******* )

SU is a pretty ok show that got marred down with it's progressive nonsense later on. Watch it if you can stomach it's "diversity" ******** and it's a pretty ok show deep down.

MLP was pretty charming for a while and I was really into it for a time. But I just lost interest in it at some point. I don't even know why I just.....stopped.

Also, thanks for that comment about me being one of your favorite porn artists. I needed that pick me up today.

I think it can prevent misunderstandings and give us more info about the talker.

I actually have to agree. I still really like steven universe, but I'm slowly falling off the hype train. It feels like every episode is trying to cram SOMETHING unconventional just for the sake of being different. I like the idea of a show constantly trying to subvert the audience's expectations, but they ONLY ever do that, and it's starting to get stale. Also, I hate that they are trying to make every bad guy a redeemable/one-note villain. I'm waiting for us to get an actually interesting, actually evil villain.

I actually appreciate how most villians are shown as redeemable (aside from Jasper for now). It is a bit cliche but I believe it's meant to reflect how Steven sees everyone, after all the show is about him. He, like his mom, sees the good in everyone/everything and so the show is done in a way to show us that through his eyes.

SU got me because of it's lore and it's background, same as AT. But it's doing the same thing where it's like "oh here's some interesting thing about the Gems we aren't gonna touch on yet, here's (character here) doing something stupid"

It got so bad, that I stopped watching all together.

I think I agree with you a bit, but I understand why they do it. I don't know if this is what you mean exactly, but it's seemed to me that when they (as in the people making SU) have an episode or two that is sorta dumb or doesn't really contribute anything to the overall "gem invasion" plot, those episodes lack the quality that other ones have. I.e. the episode where Amethyst got a new look had some ****** animation that practically matched episode 2 of the show.
What I'm trying to say is, I think there's a decent amount of filler episodes. Which makes sense of course, because instead of trying to make every episode high quality, they divert most of their attention to the episodes that matter and relate to the overarching plot. This in turn produces some episodes that really wouldn't make a huge difference if they weren't made, but also allows the creators and animators and writers to focus on the important episodes that are much more fun to rewatch because of it.
Again, sorry if that's not at all what you were referring to. I just like talking about it. Hahaha.

No that makes sense and you have a point. I just feel if you're going to have an overarching plot, you should focus on that plot.

Seriously they name dropped the Gem Homeworld like, a Brazilian times and we still know jack **** about it. I'm just sick of the fan pandering and the anime aping. Same with MLP and AT, they open up a plot point and then focus on some bs the difference here being to try to cram in diversity for diversity's sake.

It got to the point where it's too annoying to watch.

Yeah I feel you. I personally wouldn't mind if they aired every two weeks instead and had almost exclusively gemplot-related episodes. And I almost feel like they would do that, too, if they didn't have contracts which forced them to make x many episodes per season. Television networks are kept alive by having more views, after all. So maybe this is the next best thing: having filler episodes that at least contribute a bit to character development (and probably satisfy the crazed character-specific fanbases), and having well thought-out plot episodes.

Yea the last episode imo really did Peridot an injustice.
Of all we had seen of Peridot so far she had been very intelligent, technical, and really good in a dire situation.
And then she basically starts acting like a complete and irrational child.
The last episode really disappointed me. I understand that making the show kid friendly is probably top priority but they did not have to do that to Peridot.
I mean compare her from the last episode to the season one finale. It's almost as if it's two different people.

I've watched a bit of it and I feel like it'd be better if they focused less on "colorful lesbians having existential crisises" and more on the "whacky kid explores with friends and learns life lessons" part.

MLP is a cartoon I could watch if it was on, but I'd never go out of my way to watch it (most shows are like that for me honestly).

I really enjoy Steven Universe, though, because it does a lot of cool **** that hasn't been done before (at least on a largely produced show on a major TV network). How many kids shows on CN or Nick have a legitimately linear plotline? The characters feel pretty legit, too. While this isn't ALWAYS the case, most times the interactions don't feel forced or like even they've been scripted, complimented by the fact that the animators use micro expressions instead of always having exaggerated facial features. Another thing I always found interesting is that the gems aren't a secret. Everyone knows they're different but no one really gives a **** or treats them differently for it. Reminds me of Powerpuff Girls in that way.

inuyuru I'm curious as to why you think SU can do better.
I don't agree or disagree with you, I can certainly see many flaws with the show but I still enjoy it a lot.
Also, I used to watch MLP a lot but it sorta went downhill after S3. It just seemed like a ton of fan service after that.

Yeah there are a few times were Sugar was trying to be progressive for progressive's sake. Sorta reminds me of that Gen Zed show, with better writing. I still feel like it has a lot of heart though and the characters have chemistry.
I'm still excited to see where it goes.

Personally, I'm burnt out on it. The final straw was when she spent two Stevenbombs on Pearl being a jealous cunt and then a stupid cunt without any continuation or sense of urgency.

It got to the point where this bizarre slice of life take away's got way too infuriating for me to watch. It's adventure time all over again: opening up plot threads only to let them dangle and/or then wrap them up in a very unsatisfying way.

TL;DR I decided to stop watching SU til it gets off it's fanpandering.

Season 4 was okay, but the current season, season 5, is incredible. Granted, there's one episode that's literally nothing but fanservice, but the rest of the episodes are top quality.
