I can't speak for the show, but the books talked about it briefly.

Hell, Anne Rice's Lestat has straight up consumed it, and she writes it in such a way that it's not weird. It's pretty impressive.

Oh damn okay, I haven't read all of the true blood books and I haven't read Interview with a Vampire at all. I wish they addressed it in the show. It would've been interesting.

I haven't finished the series either, I really need to get back into it. They basically said that, yes, the vampires are aware of it and they want it just the same.

It's not in Interview with a Vampire, I think it's late in the series. Maybe in Memnoch the Devil.
