Well, NSFW can't be easily stumbled upon. You have to go looking for it. Plus, I'm firmly of the opinion our beloved Addykins should allow the blocking of channels, eg morbid. Unless I'm being exceptionally dense and that's already a thing.

I love how NSFW literally stands for Not Safe For Work, yet we post porn on there. Meanwhile, on the "SFW" side of things, we post content clearly unsafe for a work area, and shit that's borderline porn, much like this comic shows. My point however, is that I'm confused as to how this happened. Why do we use NSFW for porn and not for humor that's, of course, not safe for work; I mean we do have some posts one could consider SFW, but this site's fucking weird like that. Doesn't bother me of course, but it's a curiosity.

nothing on the front page is "SFW". its not like my boss is gonna react differently to anything in the "NSFW" section vs. "nigger nigger nigger" in the comments. im gonna get fired both ways.

NSFW is merely a naming convention. The actual problem has to do advertisers not wanting their adds on pages with adult content. Additionally, it is illegal for children to view pornography, and that is easily possible if posted in the main page. While it may conflict with your moral standards, there is no law against anyone viewing graphic images.
