I completely agree with your point here. A little humility is good for everyone, but for whatever reason people seem to think that theres nothing in-between being proud of your skill or work and being a cocky asshole. That goes for a lot of things in life, art included, and it seems like the only way to be properly liked is to devalue yourself until everyone else is content. It's murder on self-esteem and can be downright insulting to the effort that's put into something. I say be proud of what you can do because no one needs to be adored by everyone, but it is important to have self-respect and trust in your own abilities.

I'm somewhat of an artist and I think literally every one of my "pieces" sucks ass. Might be because since I drew it I see everything wrong with it idk. I always wonder if the greats looked at there finished project and thought the same thing though.

I think you may have missed the point. This isn't a shot at artists, this is a shot at the public.

The only ******* reason i make music is because i'm okay at it.
if i sucked after the first year, i wouldn't do it.
Everybody should be like this about everything they do. As long as you're okay at it, then you're good to do it.
Just don't shove it in other people's faces, asshole.

>When people think Humility and Self confidence are mutually exclusive.

I mean, a man can have great confidence in his skills and can think of ways to improve himself yet have the humility to not be a jackass about it.

People just love the emotionally damaged/depressed artist, be it a musician painter or most other kinds.

Somehow they are more interesting or something? I dunno I think I'm missing something
