I'm playing TW: Attila and my ally just snatched two of my provinces and pretty much cut me off from the rest of Spain because He can apparently field 3 full stack armies of elite units somehow.
Attila has improvements over Rome II
but those are minor, and the time period isn't all that interesting
go for Rome II, it has a lot more balancing mods, you can just mix and match
Attila wasn't bought by a lot of Total War fans as a protest, so it has a lot less modders
then again, the Horde mechnic means you can pretty much start where you want to, I took the Geats to the south-west part of the map and expanded from there
it's fun
"Attila wasn't bought by a lot of Total War fans as a protest"
how do you not understand that
they were upsetti they released a Rome II 1.2 instead of a new game
it's like how they did Total War Napoleon as a stand alone, full priced game when it was just supposed to be a DLC for Empire Total War
and now they're doing Warhammer, and they're doing it in 3 full priced games, or one game with 2 very expensive DLC's to unlock the next chapters instead of one big game + they pissed of a metric ******* of fans by making the Chaos faction a pre-order DLC
I'd understand a small faction like the Vampire Counts or Brettonia, but they are making people either pre-order or pay €15 to play as one of the cornerstone factions of Warhammer
it's ******** , and even the petition which reached over 40.000 signatures didn't change it
TLDR; **** CA for choosing profits over fans service
Ah right, I remember that spectacle. But Warhammer Total War NEEDS to be its own game. Not only to show that sort of game is what people want, but also because of the massive changes it brings to the table. Have you seen the developer releases? They have changed a lot. One of the largest changes is how gunpowder works. Not to mention the magic system, and hero system. Sure, people managed to do similar in mods, but that's just it. It was mods. Now we will have actual hero units without modding, and fully supported.
I don't support Atilla being a new game, but I DO support Warhammer.
I've been finding myself playing Attila much more than Rome 2. Attila introduced quite a few more features that Rome 2 probably could've benefited from but in the end it boils mostly down to setting I'd say.
It's either play as the great civilisations of the Classical era vs play as the invading hordes of barbarians or try to hold onto the remnants of your empire. (The horde feature is kinda cool, I gotta admit.)
Also in Attila you got the Age of Charlemagne campaign DLC which starts encroaching Medieval era territory which I much prefer to the Classical era.
I wish I had the money for Atilla. I'm an avid Total War fan, and have been since Rome 1. Atilla is the only one of the series barring Shogun 1 that I don't have...
My first TW game was Shogun 1 and back then I had no idea what the **** I was doing.
Also then I forgot the whole TW series until Empire was released which made me play that and I realised I had Medieval 2 but never played it. (too many games on dvd's and you forget you have some)
My fav is probably Shogun 2 thou, with the FotS campaign.
If I had money I'd probably buy you Attila with the AoC DLC(you'd just have to play it with me)
Haha, that'd be awesome, and I've been looking for people to play Co-Op with. However I learned yesterday that my tactics on the battle map are horrendous. Maybe if I get it in the future you can help tutor me.
That's because the AI in Total War games usually cheat. Basically, the economic rules are different for them, giving them way more money (and therefore troops) than they should have.
A player making the exact same decisions as they do would normally be flat broke.
It's Creative Assembly's own flavor of artificial difficulty. Unfortunately, because the AI is so ****** in the first place, this is sort of needed to provide any sort of challenge to the player.
Yeah I know but I just find it bloody annoying, a one province minor fielding more troops than me when I have half of Iberia at my height and then he just comes rushing in and "saves" the day. Don't get me wrong, I like the game but the TW AI is just so damn retarded I want to cry.
Also **** CA for not giving me the option to use diplomacy to ask for provinces.
