I own one and they are mildly tempered, it depends on the spider and if they get used to being handled or not. The best pet tarantulas are the new-world tarantulas because they are not venomous, the old-world tarantulas however are extremely aggressive and can be venomous. but note: there are no known reports of someone dying from a tarantula bite ever.
