actually, with what was going on, he might have SAVED lives. here's the thing: if he did not swerve to hit the other car, avoiding the semi, it would've been a head on collision and all passengers in front would have died with serious injuries sustained by rear passengers at the very least. sure he accidentally pushed the other into the truck, but the car grinded against it. it did not truly hit it. thus, the collision was softened, and at the most, serious injuries were sustained by members of the second party. It was a small sacrifice that most were injured, then many being dead. remember that you can always recover from a non-crippling injury. you cannot recover from death
