When I was in army training you were ******* OVERJOYED when you got back to your thick itchy wool blanket! The itchy blanket was a reminder how how lucky you were, if you were with the itchy blanket that meant you were "home", you didn't have to march for endless miles or like shivering in a sleeping bag in a tent with 12 other dudes that all desperately tried to keep warm too.

Yes it was itchy, but god damn it was warm, and very very comfortable to marching 20 miles in the freezing ******* April rain while your ill fitting boots dug into your feet causing bleeding wounds and massive blisters. When you were in you little bed with your itchy blanket it was the only time you could try to relax, and not just sleep on edge or collapse in a heap from exhaustion.
