Why does pepsi mean dead now? It seems like every time I leave the internet for more than 2 days all the words get rearranged
User avatar #31 to #29 - turlesrfun (08/29/2015) [-]
Pepsi has been used in place of "dead" for years. It started when someone flipped a pepsi can upside-down and said it looked like it spelled "isded"

So people just say Pepsi for comedic purposes.

I think that these post are only really good if they have stories that don't necessarily fit into a theme. These just kinda read like, This is a terrible thing. I did that terrible. TO MYSELF!

If you're not wearing the protective **** /it's not covered in protective **** , high amounts of X-Ray radiation can give you cancer

That being said, so can any other form of radiation or memes

That one is stupid, and I don't get the trigonometry one.
I get he's dead but why is he in maths?
and for that matter, how the **** do americans have an entire class for trig?
are they that stupid that it takes a whole year to learn or what? Do they split up one maths class into 5 small classes with the same number of periods?
please for the love of god don't be that last one, that is the worst ******* idea in history, abott would come up with an idea like that
User avatar #59 to #5 - chikibriki (08/31/2015) [-]
he's in math because he didnt have enough goodboy points to get into heaven
User avatar #38 to #5 - DementedDoom ONLINE (08/29/2015) [-]
Generally we roll calculus and trigonometry into one class. I elected to take an additional art class instead. Math was easy, in fact almost all classes were easy, but it didn't interest me.
I made up for that laziness with college level literature and composition, and advanced placement government and politics.
The joke is on them, i graduated and did nothing with those college credits.
**** it, tattoo artist.
User avatar #54 to #38 - epicalania (08/30/2015) [-]
I'm kinda like that with a lot of my classes. I sleep through most maths lessons because I'm ahead of the class.
Since americans split up the classes I'm guessing each ones lot shorter than mine, so what? 45 minutes each about?
In alot of Australian schools te periods go for 45 minutes, in mine they go for an hour 15, so each of my classes are much more extensive than the 45 minute ones, although they probably go down to about 45 minutes with all the **** that happens (late kids, noone paying attention to the teach for a hile, interuptions etc)
#37 to #5 - anon (08/29/2015) [-]
We probably just learn more about trig than you do.

It's not uncommon for school systems to be different, and for subjects to be more, or less, in depth about things, across different countries.
User avatar #7 to #5 - zuel (08/29/2015) [-]
There's a lot to cover in trig, but in high school i had trig stuff twice, both half the year instead of a year-long class. The first time it was trig/geometry combo'd together for one semester and algebra the other. The second time it was college trig one semester with discrete math the other (and this being for college cred it was optional). No clue about the dead person.
User avatar #8 to #7 - epicalania (08/29/2015) [-]
I covered almost all of junior trig in a few weeks of maths, (junior is 4 years, years 7-10, in Australia) and then we moved on to a different topic. I think our way of doing it is better because you can break down the different sections and spread them out because theres so many parts of maths that are a combination of parts. So what if your algebra class hasn't taught you the algebra you need for trig? Or you haven't covered advanced polynomials (in whatever class you'd do them in, I'm guessing algebra) so you can't do some parts of trig?

With the Australian way you can cover topics faster because you spend more time on them, but you can split and combine them in whatever way suits the class best, maybe your class is really good at algebra? Good, they can spend more time on coordinate geometry where they aren't.

User avatar #17 to #8 - emiyashirou ONLINE (08/29/2015) [-]
We covered all of high school trig from the start in 3 hours. To be fair, this was in a prep class for the international mathematics olympiad, so we were all expected to be able to keep up with that pace.
User avatar #53 to #17 - epicalania (08/30/2015) [-]
How extensive was your trig course though?
We spent 3 months, at about 3 hours week doing it, we began and finished the entire trig course for the curriculum. I don't know about american schools but in Australia my school has one of the more intense trig courses, on account of being selective
User avatar #55 to #53 - emiyashirou ONLINE (08/30/2015) [-]
This was over 2 years ago so I can't remember exactly, but we did about 1.5 times the amount of content in the high school curriculum, including stuff like the Angle Bisector theorem, Stewart's Theorem, Ceva's, Menelaus', Ptolemy's theorems (these last 3 aren't technically trig, but they're also related to triangle geometry for which we learned trig as a precursor)
User avatar #56 to #55 - epicalania (08/30/2015) [-]
So that'd be a bit less than my schools extended curriculum I guess not trying to boast, just trying to get an accurate idea , so that with all the back and forth wit algebra and geometry we merged into it, and that your class was obviously made up of really good mathematicians, whereas mine has good ones but not (usually) exceptional, I can see why you'd do it a lot faster.
User avatar #57 to #56 - emiyashirou ONLINE (08/30/2015) [-]
There were some really insanely smart people in that class, I can tell you that. One guy got like 75% in the IMO (Top 6 high school maths students in each country get to compete. Average score is about 6/42), and one of our lecturers had gotten 100% for it when he was in high school.

Not a single one of us was able to keep up with the **** he lectured (according to our other lecturer, it was apparently 3rd/4th year mathematics major equivalent **** that he was lecturing to 16-17 year olds)
User avatar #60 to #57 - epicalania (09/01/2015) [-]
So your class had a much higher standard, and a different curriculum as well So not directly comparable, unless we actually went detailed into it and I couldn't be bothered

I said it before. These just aren't very good.
User avatar #42 - ulash (08/29/2015) [-]
i dont get the second one, so...hes buried but the kids from his triginometry class are looking at him as if he were in class or something?
#51 to #42 - btschweitzer [OP](08/30/2015) [-]
Superficially its about a dead kid in his class but its more than that too for me. Growing up did you ever have the fear that people looked at you differently that you were a freak? Maybe you even believed it yourself and it killed you inside slowly but you kept on doing what everybody expected you to. It's that self alienation and self hatred that lands you in a living hell. Yeah the dead can be 2spoopy but if you think about what death means and the alternatives sometimes you find scarier things under the surface.
#45 to #42 - anon (08/29/2015) [-]
Well he's dead, and I guess became a zombie. I guess he just dug himself out of his grave and walked to class for some reason. Pretty stupid story.

Anyone else get really annoyed by the stories that use run on sentences, comma splicing, or semi colons to make what should really be a three sentence story? Numbers 2 and 5 if you're not up on your grammar.
