I was about to say killing a man for mere insults, or just violence as a whole for mere insults, is an idiotic thing to do. But now that you say assault, rather then insult. I find myself morally conflicted. I have no idea what the right response there is. On one hand, good riddance, on another, was that really a death penalty situation?

Well even though he is a physician and knows the human body, most people don't realize the frailty of the brain and how punches can be lethal. I'm going to go ahead and assume his intention was not to kill and he should have known better, being a physician and all.
