any tips for cleaning a laptop keyboard most of my letters dont work and i have to use a usb keyboard

If keys don't work then it's too late to clean the keyboard, you'll need to replace it. Usually you can find replacement keyboards online.

Not entirely true, some models of laptop don't incorporate the silicone sheet that most modern keyboards have that prevents the contacts from becoming damaged or shorted, but instead incorporate a non-corrosive version of the contacts.

So most likely there's a hair or a corn-chip piece just clogging the space between the key and the contact, just google "How to clean laptop keyboard"

Well I guess it's worth a shot. Putting the keys back in is a total bitch, most laptop keyboards use a type of a plastic support to push the keys out, meaning that you need to put the support back in and then snap the key onto it (latches onto 4 points on the support). Not a big problem if you pull one key, but all of them...
