I don't see why everyone got all fucking butt hurt over this.
How else could the story have fucking ended? The reapers had everything invaded and the entire galaxies forces were engaged with the majority of the reaper fleet. And by the way, the reapers were winning the battle. So when it came down to it, either shepherd blows up all the reapers and all synthetics, which is an option, or takes control of them, which is an option. Hell, they even threw in a middle ground option as well.
How would any of you had the series end?

I kinda liked the extended cut ending, because it gives you closure and shepards story ends. But the original ending was way too abrupt and the things this kid says created some plotholes. Im not saying a game should answer every single question, but in a game which is all about the story and the characters, there were just too many unanswered questions.
Still, i thing the EC ending they released is okay, but that kid is the avatar of the first, screwed up attempt so people hate him ^^
