I'm an American and drive an automatic, but I do know how to use a stick shift.

I just prefer to use an automatic so I can drive and eat a double fried Big Macwith one hand as I salute old glory with the other, while running over foreigners yelling at them to, "GET OUTTA MY COUNTRY F***ERS". Then as I pull into a french market I flick off the "Oh no! They have stones WE SURRENDER!" Frenchies using both hands while staying and optimal speed of 35 MPH. To those foreigners who don't know what MPH means it means, GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!

This post is like saying any car that has over 100 horsepower is morbid for the British. It just doesn't work.

Im an American and i drive a stick. It is so much fun but sadly most other Americans lack the ability to drive manual cars or they are just too lazy.
User avatar #497 to #493 - jonluw ONLINE (06/21/2012) [-]
It's a stick shift.
Most Americans drive cars with automatic gearboxes. Or so the stereotype goes at least.
User avatar #498 to #493 - SmellyClaw (06/21/2012) [-]
Automatic - driver only sets the gear in reverse or drive
Manual - driver must change gears himself (1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on)

Well this just doesn't make much sense. Most people I know, drive stick or have at least learned how to drive stick. Hell, most American Muscle cars are stick, and we love our muscle cars.

I don't understand how people call Americans ignorant when **** like this is so highly praised?

Pic is related as its the only American reaction I have.
User avatar #483 to #231 - pottie (06/21/2012) [-]
I have a question for you about driving in the states, do you HAVE to learn in a manual (stick) car whilst learning how to drive before receiving your licence for any car; or you could take it in a automatic but receive a licence only for a automatic car?
#522 to #483 - cptblackkawk (06/21/2012) [-]
It's all the same license, regardless. My people that don't know how to drive a manual are smart enough to not buy a vehicle that is a manual.
User avatar #641 to #522 - pottie (06/21/2012) [-]
Fair enough mate. Here, you have to pass a test with a manual car to be allowed to drive one so that you have clutch and gear control.
