If I lived by the golden gate bridge I would walk around it all day once a week wearing a white robe. Every time I would see someone that looks like they are about to commit suicide I will come up to them put my hand on their shoulder and say "Things will get better" then walk away. Sometimes a little hope is all people need...

I think you should add the word "willingly" to your sentence... it really makes you think both how bad it must be for them and how not so bad it is for you (us).

I see what you mean. I meant just the fact of someone going from life to death, just in that small instant.

What kills you first when you jump off the bridge? Do you drown or does the impact of the water kill you?

Imagine doing a belly flop and how much that hurts from just 3 feet up...
basically at that velocity and height when you hit it is momentarily hitting a solid object like a wall (it happens too fast for the water to envelop you); one kid did survive (he was not committing suicide it was a dare) by "diving" into the water - because he had a small area of impact he penetrated rather than slapped the water - broken ribs collarbone and ankles, but alive. A lot of physics at work here...

Basically from that height, your body is being crushed and ripped apart from the impact, depending where the impact starts, say a belly flop, your lungs, and ribs r practically dust from the force of impact. and possible a seperation of the tissue leaving organs exposed, but anywere really on your body your going to suffer serve pain from injuires, and if your lucky, the death is instant rather then having a few moments of suffering. But I still feel very sorry for these people. its really hard to watch. Even if its willing, there is no reason for them to jump. There is always a way to find happiness in your life, its just having the will power to do so. But some people just cant I guess.

What the ****?! Why is nobody going over and helping them? I bet a large number of those people wouldn't have jumped had someone gone up and said "Hey, dude, what's happening, what's going on?"

Same here... actually as long as it doesn't involve children I don't mind; suicide is different... its not an accident and it lacks the passion in murder or an attack... Suicide is just something vain... I think that's why it stands out... I remember watching people fall on 9/11 - tbh that wasn't so bad because they were choosing not to become victims - they were taking their fate in their own hands by dying quickly rather than choking/burning... I DON'T consider that suicide... but this.... **** man I hear ya.
