While were here anyone know what happened to megadeth recently? I know they picked up Chris Broderick, but who did they replace and why?
User avatar #371 to #370 - usarnaem (05/15/2012) [-]
It was Glen Drover ( Shawn's brother) before Chris.I dont know the exact reason tho,I think something personal about Glen.
#373 to #371 - GreenGrinder (05/15/2012) [-]
Yeah, Glen said he wanted to spend more time with his family as they are priority. Oh well, Chris Broderick as a fucking guitar god, so it's all good

I fucking hate Broderick in Megadeth. His tone is absolute shit. It needs to be balls out in your face, not washed away in the river. Listen to any of their live stuff with Broderick and notice his shit guitar tone then notice Dave's "In your face" tone. That's what Megadeth should be.

I can't agree with you there. So there's two types of tones? "absolute shit" and "In your face"? Wow, you must be a guitar technician. Anyway, I've only seen Megadeth live once, but they played the rust in peace album as a set list (20th anniversary) I can honestly say that it sounded spectacular. I think Chris's tone is going to sound a lot different because his solos are far more intricate and technically demanding to play, so he uses extra treble (high presence) otherwise it's gonna sound like some shit off Killing is my Business.

I think you misunderstood me...
Just so you know my opinion is legit: I've been playing guitar for six years and was top of the class in Sound Engineering.
My problem with Broderick is his lack of presence in his tone and his metric fuckton of reverb. He needs more highs and less 'verb.
Killing is my Business... and Business is Good is my favorite Megadeth album.

That's cool, sorry for misunderstanding you man. I know killing is my business is a great album, it's pretty low budget that's all I meant. Combat records granted Dave and the guys $8000 to record the album, and they spent $4000 on drugs lol, but theirs some killer tracks in there.

But he should probably use Dave's tone on older songs, so it sounds more like the record.

I didn't notice this comment before I posted the other one:
This is what I was saying. Broderick shouldn't try to change the Megadeth sound on their classics. I don't care what he does on Th1rteen or any of the newer stuff; that's not and never will be a classic.

Either way I'm kinda stoked to see what kind of stuff they'll come up with now. I loved Chris in Jag Panzer. The guy's awesome!

Yeah man, I really hope Nevermore get back on their feet.

I'm probably making an idiot out of myself here, but what does nevermore have to do with this? I thought Chris was from Jag Panzer.

Chris Broderick was in Nevermore before Megadeth :)
