In probability and statistics, Simpson's paradox, or the Yule–Simpson effect, is a paradox in which a trend that appears in different groups of data disappears when these groups are combined, and the reverse trend appears for the aggregate data. This result is often encountered in social-science and medical-science statistics,[1] and is particularly confounding when frequency data are unduly given causal interpretations.[2] Simpson's Paradox disappears when causal relations are brought into consideration. Many statisticians believe that the mainstream public should be informed of the counter-intuitive results in statistics such as Simpson's paradox.[3][4]

Well let's see, approx. 2100 women accused of and executed for practicing witchcraft in what is supposed to be a fairly modernized country.

Plus it's a statistic. If you're so offended, post something that'll prove that it's false. If it's actually true and you can't, then get ****** because no one gives a **** if you're butthurt over a statistic.

It's a country that isn't predominantly christian/catholic/atheist, it's not modern.

Basically what i'm trying to say is if you use your religion to advocate violence, you are not a modern culture, or if you haven't updated your religion to exclude violence. For example, the Catholic doctrine was, if you don't agree with us, prepare for war. Now, it's more of a situation where you try to convince someone to come over to your side, if not, oh well you go about your day. Do you know what I mean?

Buddhism and Shintoism are both religions of peace aren't they? Catholicism an Christianity have not always been, but have changed to become peaceful religions, for the most part.

Start with a nice Glenlivet, followed by a good Canadian Whisky and if you're really really offended, then my guilt will force a beer or two. LOL

Be careful. If you talk too nicely to them, millions will immigrate and take over your country and force their values and culture upon you until it's like living in India.

As a Calgarian, I can verify the accuracy of this statement.

Don't take away my reason to drink. If I don't have a reason, then I'm just an alcoholic.

LOL

Not really, alcoholics go to meetings. I guess I'm just a drunk.

Drink because somebody in a far away island called Ireland is now aware of your existence on this planet. that counts for something

Here's a story for you!

When I was still at high school my english teacher who was also my friends dad was telling me about the time he was driving home from a teacher/parent evening.
We live in the Scottish Highlands and he was heading back to the neighbouring village he lived in with a carpool of other teachers. They were driving past an abandoned old castle when they all noticed the glow coming from behind the castle (which is creepily situated on the top of a hill). They slowed the car down and saw that there was a group of adults all wearing white robes and masks dancing around it. As they sat just watching in wonder/shock/fear/ridicule the white robed people noticed them and began to run down towards the car. They burnt rubber and got the **** out of there.

He phoned the police when he got home, telling them what he had seen and the reply was: "Yeah, white witches and witchcraft is popular around here. Just ignore them."
