a fake spaceship is worth more than my car?

Ha, and I nearly rage quit when I lost my Federation Navy Comet and Navy Dominix. That must suck.
User avatar #347 - whycanticaps (07/12/2013) [-]
I can't imagine how long it would take to recover over 500 billion of whatever that games money is. I was looking at the damage reports, 226 pilots vs 14, and the 226 ******** the 14 with 0 losses

Oh god I think I'd just quit the game
User avatar #353 to #347 - captchakid (07/12/2013) [-]
It really depends. But the main thing that sucks is that the ship he lost, the thing about it, you have to build it yourself. There is almost no one that will build that ship for you, because building it requires resources in the far corners of the galaxy that are home to other people hunting down players for fun.

I want to play that game, but it sounds like it is just one big grind, more than most mmos

But I'd love to be a pirate hahaha

That's what everyone thinks at first. You see, there are virtually an UNLIMITED amount of things you can do, and still succeed at them. Someone like me, who has been playing for around 3 years, can be easily killed by other players that have played for a month. It all depends on what skills you train, and what goals you make. At first, I wanted to have a steady stream of income, and mining was the most stable, so I did that for about a year and a half training only MINING skills. During that time, someone could easily train all combat skills and a fight between us would end with a dead me. As for professions, there are a few main groups. Mining, Missioning, PvPing, Exploring, and Marketing. Mining is simple enough, just shoot asteriods for a fair amount of pay, a lot of players can do this and end up paying for game time with in-game money and having extra leftover. Missioning is another steady, but in my opinion less fun, way to play. You spend your days shooting NPC's and being payed by NPC's, unlocking higher tier 'Agents' that give more money. PvPing is the second most profitable way to play, being also the second most risky. You spend your days killing other players and looting their ships for parts to sell, or making them pay you for their life and/or ships life. Of course, then you can still just blow them up after they've payed you. Next is Exploring, which I myself am just getting into and therefor cannot tell you much about. What I do know is that you have chances to find extremely rare items that can sell for billions of isk, you just have to find them. Lastly, there's Marketing. It's extremely tricky, and much like buying/selling stocks. You have to be careful, because in 10 minutes you could double or triple your money, or you lose all of it. Its all investments. There are many other professions out there, like Hauling, and even Scamming, but I haven't explored the game enough yet. If you want to try it, I can give you a 21 day trial. Just ask.

Am I the only one that's flabbergasted by the fact that this actually made the news?

Where the **** are all my news articles from my years of epic video game quests?
User avatar #332 - whycanticaps (07/12/2013) [-]
I want to play EVE, but I hear it's mostly an economy simulator
#330 - solinvictus (07/12/2013) [-]
Sounds like a normal day in Eve Online.
User avatar #326 - hideyowives (07/12/2013) [-]
and fyi to everyone, not sure if this makes it worse or better
he didnt actually buy it with real life cash
just there is a money to isk(the currency) system
so that is how much money he would have lost if he used money instead of isk
so instead of losing 9k he just lost over 1000 hours of his life
User avatar #328 to #326 - kfjesus (07/12/2013) [-]
Which in working man's hours is like eight grand. I'd do it for the laughs.
User avatar #329 to #328 - hideyowives (07/12/2013) [-]
the humor is that it got killed by like 100 ships you can get in the first few hours
the bigger ships have issues targeting the smallers ones
its why pirates like myself go small and fast and in large numbers
so we can **** things, steal things, and get out before peoples friends arrive
also we enjoy shooting miners
cause they picked mining
User avatar #331 to #329 - kfjesus (07/12/2013) [-]
Have you ever played the online browser game called dark orbit? All of the longer standing players tool all over the new ones because the older ones have better ships. This is opposed to the old wild tangent game dark orbit where you're a space miner fighting aliens.
User avatar #335 to #331 - hideyowives (07/12/2013) [-]
yeah i think they made the newer ships smaller and faster to prevent that
sinc ethe oldest people with the biggest ships could sit there for hours trying to shoot a frigate with speed boosters and targeting jammers....but if the frig stops moving for a second or two bad things happen
User avatar #336 to #335 - kfjesus (07/12/2013) [-]
Now that's a great way to keep new players interested.

What does it mean by 9,000 dollars? He spend $9,000 on a ship? Or did he use in game currency that equaled $9,000?
User avatar #323 to #305 - hideyowives (07/12/2013) [-]
revenant, basically the in game currency he used if converted into cash would equal 9k
there are currently only two others in exsistance, with that one being deadified
User avatar #327 to #323 - theamazinganalidk (07/12/2013) [-]
Oh thanks, the first person that replied to me wasn't clear at all.
