The lion incident happened at a place called Tsavo. It involved a rare occurrence in nature that's rarely seen, a mane less male lion. Even stranger is to find two of them working together. It was rarer still that they were man eaters, and giant ones at that. The workers under the supervision of a British engineer John H. Patterson tried to scare, capture and kill the lions with no success. It became such a problem that most of the workers left, causing the construction to come to a halt. The first lion was shot by patterson, and when it returned to stalk him he was able to kill it . It was finally killed measuring 9ft inches and took 8 men to carry back to camp. The second lion while trying to kill patterson was shot 5 times with a .303 lee enfield but got up and continued to charge. It took another 3 shots, 2 in the chest and 1 in the head to fell him. It died gnawing on a treebranch still trying to kill him. The locals believed the lions were spirits of medicine men come bask as demon lions.
