Recently I have been having dreams where I experience pain, wake up, then feel a residual "pain" in the same spot. Its been freaking me out because its been happening more and more...

I don't remember all of my dreams but I can tell the ones I do remember if someone wants me to.

since pain is only a stimulated nerve picked up by the brain, the brain can make you feel that pain if you believe you are truly feeling it, even if the nerves aren't stimulated, so in a situation where your brain thinks you somehow got injured, it will tell itself to make you feel pain in order to alert you to the injury,

Alright, the first dream happened about a month ago.

I don't remember how it started but I was with another girl and we were running through this apartment building/hotel from a crazy guy with a knife that somewhat resembled a mix between Jack Nicholson and the Heath Ledger joker (weird i know). We reach the last room on the top floor. In the room are boxes, a large coffee table in the very center, and the batman wrapped almost completely in bandages on a gurney. We wake him up and beg him to save us from the man.

As batman gets off the gurney, the man with the knife busts through the door and kills attacks him; batman is defenseless and dies. Next, he begins stabbing the girl with me (i have no idea who she is). When he turns toward me i beg and plead for him to not hurt me. He stabs me once in the chest, leaves the knife in my chest, and departs from the room.

I can feel the knife in my chest, but I am still asleep and lying on the floor watching blood spill out. When i try to pull out the knife, I wake up still feeling the residual pain.
