Oni come in many different colours, most common of which are red and blue. The different temperaments of the two kinds of oni is sometimes used to describe character archetypes in anime and manga.
A red oni is quick to anger and just as quick to forgive. Emotionally they move swiftly and sometimes unpredictably, and they tend to have very intense personalities as a result. Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion fits the red oni archetype.
A blue oni has a more glacial temperament. They are very slow to anger, but when they do get angry they can getty pretty damn determined to hurt you. Your chances aren't helped by the fact that the blue oni also is slow to forgive and forget. The monk Seishin Muroi from Shiki is a perfect fit for the blue oni archetype.
