I would chose the Empire everyday. Main reason is because I can't stand Ulfric Stormcloak and his racist ass. I can understand that the Nords don't want to give up their religion because it is demanded of them and that they are willing to fight for it. I can support that cause. But not with Ulfric Leading it. I have no love for the Empire, though I do think their solution to avoid conflict is more sensible.

I always like to think that the game would continue and when Skyrim was back on it's feet again after the whole dragon and civil war thing, then I'd gladly stand beside a new formed sort-of-stormcloak. One that is stronger and able to take on the Aldmeri Dominion, and one that does not have Ulfric Stormcloak.

I didn't like Ulfric so I didn't join the Stormcloaks.

funny story, if you cast fury on Ulfric, his 2 imperial guards will knock him down before you crawls for 5 seconds and gets back up

I would have supported the Empire building up its strength so it could drive the Thalmor the **** out of imperial lands. The Stormcloak rebellion delayed that by a long time by splitting imperial forces, and causing the deaths of hundreds of people who could have been fighting the damn elves instead. **** the Thalmor, but **** Ulfric even more for using a time of crisis to advance his own power trip.

That's why I didn't support the Stormcloaks. Because behind it all, Ulfric was just pushing his own agenda. It wasn't as much fighting for the sons of Skyrim as it was just fighting for that one son on a stone throne.

But: You have to give the Jarl of Windhelm credit for his voice. Whenever he speaks, he has this calm, dark voice, as if Tiber Septim himself was lending the words to him.

He has a deep voice. And he just talks calmly. I do not find that impressive. (The voice acting was great, I don't mean to bash that, just that Ulfric having a deep voice doesn't make him a more respectable person in my eyes).
