When mods dont work.

Before you put on any mod, you must delete the META-INF folder, or minecraft will simply blackscreen.

It cant be there for some reason, Modloaders delete it since it literally only prevents mods, many .exe related to minecraft delete it too, eg the HD skin mod did it for you

Nah, it's there. It hasn't been deleted. I don't see how this could be the reason, but perhaps it's somehow because i play a pirated version?

Yes, that is why. Pirated versions avoid the checks that META-inf does, so yes, that is why.

seriously though you should try FTB, it's better because it's updated to 1.4.7 and it has permission for its mods

Plus you can freely and easily modify FTB.

Nope. It was on a Minecraft lets play, but if you know anything about the Roosterteeth guys, you know that they don't actually mean it.

for the guy i replied to? but yeah I can't install Minecraft mods to save my life (love archaeology/ships and cannons mods, and mo animals) but I can't even do texturepacks right, i got dokucraft eventually but some of the blocks looked really weird

Oh uh. the picture he made was from Achievement Hunter, who is owned by Roosterteeth (I think). Brownman is a gamertag.

Also, a few things to check when installing texture/mod packs.
1. Is it an HD texture pack? (if so, you need mcpatcher or optifine (I suggest optifine))
2. Is the texture pack updated to your game? (e.g. A 1.2 version texture pack won't work for a 1.4 client)
3. Have you deleted the Meta-Inf file? (almost every mod requires that, if I'm not mistaken)
