Never played on multiplayer again.

I played online on a server with about 30 other people, but my house was literally 10,000 blocks from spawn and nowhere near where anyone in the server lived, on a massive grassland. I never talked to anyone, and I never met anyone, but I had a sheep named Wooly Wubbles. I dyed him orange so he'd look different from the other sheep, so I knew it was him. I fed him wheat even though I didn't mate him with any other sheep, just because I knew he liked it. Then one day I came online and everyone was complaining about griefers. My house was burned down, everything was destroyed, and my 15 diamonds or so...
...but off in the distance, I saw a glint of orange. Somehow even during the fire, Wooly Wubbles escaped from his pen and got out just in time. It gave me hope. I felt like I hadn't lost everything. So I rebuilt, and I worked, and eventually I had an even bigger, better house. But then... it happened.

I was tending to the other animals, when it started to get dark. I was about to leave, when a spider jumped over the fence and attacked me. In the confusion, I left the gate open and a creeper and a skeleton came into the pen. The skeleton shot at me. I dodged it, and it hit WW. Then the creeper charged me. There was an explosion. When the dust cleared, I saw it. A single piece of orange wool laying on the ground in front of me. I had lost my only companion on the server. I killed more mobs that night than I had ever killed in my life, until the sun came up. Later, I invited everyone to the funeral, but only 3 people came. I placed the orange wool in the ground on a hill, a dirt block on top of it, stacked 2 fence posts, and placed a sign that read

"Here lies Wooly Wubbles. A good sheep."
Then someone on our Skype chat played "Oh Bury Me Not On the Lone Prarie," and they left as the sun was setting.

I only play single player, but that's because I hate people.

I used to go on a server where every day was like a new episode of desperate housewives. I hate people.

I've never liked Minecraft MP. Gotta walk 50 miles from the spawn just to find a spot to make a home no one will ever see, and then griefers come along.

> Walk directly north, south, east, or west of spawn
> Place markers that point to the direction you are going once in a while
> Keep walking until you start to see fertile land (un-griefed land, trees, space, E.T.C.)
> Put a torch under one block from the surface (the smoke from the torch will slightly show above ground and mark where your base is while being un-suspicious)
> Make an underground base and gather a great amount of resources (a ******** of iron at least
> Become much better equiped then the rest of the server
> Head back to the general population (try go where only a few people lurk)
> Procede to assassinate as many players as possible until you have a good amount of new items
> Using the markers you have placed, head back to your den
> Store new items and repeat
> Continue to do so until you liberate the server and become known by all users
> Without giving away your base (to prevent traitors), try to recruit users to make their own bases, protect the server and kill all griefers
> Eventually the griefers will become over-powered by the more well equiped assassins
> Some fellow recuits are sure to turn out as traitors, but it should be nothing too bad
> Supress the traitors and continue too grow in power
> Become the most powerful guild/brotherhood on the entire server and swear to protect the server from all enemies

I've never played multiplayer. I'd like to. I just don't want to have to deal with griefers. Is there any way to play privately with a small group of people? I'm still kinda of new to minecraft, so I don't know much beyond what can be learned in single player.

Worst server possible right here.

A lot of corrupt staff that make rules that only some people have to follow. If their friends break the rules they just ignore it, but if you break the tiniest rule even by mistake 24 hour ban. You try to tell your side of the story in a calm manner over the forums banned from forums. I have some issues with this server yes, but I'm also letting you all know about it so you can avoid it for yourselves.

Also they allow/ignore racism, but momma jokes will get you kicked. Dafuq?

Not many people know how to run a server well nowadays.

Make a set list of rules.
Ban those that break them

No exceptions.

If its against the rules to make yomama jokes, and someone does, ban them. If its not, they shouldn't. Same with swearing, stealing, griefing, or killing.

That's it.
I'm a mod on a small ish server

I actually prefer single player. Lets me build whatever I want without having to worry about jackasses ruining my projects.

I like playing Batman on servers. I wait and see the tendencies of everyone on the server, and then I silently grief/kill the people who do that the most to everyone. They never find me, and I gain a reputation with the local folk as a silent vigil.

I wish I had minecraft so I could play multiplayer.

I only have a single player version.
User avatar #18 - ningyoaijin (11/22/2012) [+] (2 replies)
The one reason single-player is superior: Lack of griefing.

Honestly, I have no idea how, but on this server I used to play on I had a base perfectly hidden in a mountain about 6,000 metres away from the spawn in both directions. Had a sizeable number of operations going on. One day after taking like a 3 hour break I came back to find the whole place (including my series of underwater ******* mazes leading to a bunch of treasure) was filled in with dirt, and everything removed from all the chests.

It's one thing being griefed if you just put your house out in the open, but when you put so much work into setting traps, creating near-impossible mazes and perfectly concealing your base, it's annoying as crap to have it all taken away from you.

...Rant over.
