So make an underground tunnel.

I spawned on jungle island.Tried to find normal forest biome.Took me while.

I got a (roughly) 12 by 8 square island. With a tiny as fuck tree. No other fucking land for hundreds of blocks in any direction. I decided it would be a challenge, and I now have a huge ass underground castle, with a tiny unassuming island as the entrance.

Emeralds can only be found beneath mountain biome.

I thought it was in extreme hills biomes?
I'm not sure of this, seeing as my computer crashed before I could download the update. I read it in the wiki page though.

it is, im guessing wertq does not use f3 so he does not know the real biome names and extreme hills is as close as we have to a mountain biome as of yet

yeah but in the future i hope hope hope we will get a real mountain biome that whill have mountains that reach above the cloud layer and near the world limit. of course until that day it is no big deal to call extream hills mountain i was just letting findtheanswer know he was right and giving a theory as to why you used mountain over extream hill :)

But what about sponges? Do you have any idea when those'll be added?

It is a planned feature of theres actually, to make sponge obtainable in survival.

I was thinking it could be a rare block to find on the seabed in groups of 3-9 sort of thing.

We also need more Sealife, sharks maybe...

i kinda like that there are no sponges. so in creative mode you get all happy like "yay i got a block thats impossible to get!"

One of the villagers also let me trade 20 wheat for an emerald so you can do it that way to get some also.

Looked at the Wiki, said it can be found in the "Extreme Hills" and the "Extreme Hills Edge" Biomes. And non-existent elsewhere.

Since the update today, I started digging in my survival and found 20 diamonds and one emerald in survival

They're super rare, they may have changed it, but I remember somebody saying in one of the first snapshots that had emeralds that they were like 25 times more rare than diamonds.

Same problem here, I was gonna pic a spot for me and my friends to build a town since the map reset for 1.3 on the server we play on and it said it timed out and the other servers said down for maintenance. After the server disappointment I decided to visit my hardcore world and every 5-10 minutes it would kick me off saying something about the server having an internal error and minecraft itself went down a couple of times so I couldn't log in.

Well i think emeralds are more rare since they only spawn in one biome, but yeah that is a shitty deal.

Emeralds are something like 20 times more rare than diamonds, so that's actually a pretty good deal

But diamonds are much more useful.
