Here's a fun thing to do in multiplayer servers with no rules:

> Walk directly north, south, east, or west of spawn
> Place markers that point to the direction you are going once in a while
> Keep walking until you start to see fertile land (un-griefed land, trees, space, E.T.C.)
> Put a torch under one block from the surface (the smoke from the torch will slightly show above ground and mark where your base is while being un-suspicious)
> Make an underground base and gather a great amount of resources (a ******** of iron at least
> Become much better equiped then the rest of the server
> Head back to the general population (try go where only a few people lurk)
> Procede to assassinate as many players as possible until you have a good amount of new items
> Using the markers you have placed, head back to your den
> Store new items and repeat
> Continue to do so until you liberate the server and become known by all users
> Without giving away your base (to prevent traitors), try to recruit users to make their own bases, protect the server and kill all griefers
> Eventually the griefers will become over-powered by the more well equiped assassins
> Some fellow recuits are sure to turn out as traitors, but it should be nothing too bad
> Supress the traitors and continue too grow in power
> Become the most powerful guild/brotherhood on the entire server and swear to protect the server from all enemies

1. Find closest tree, punch it down.
2. Make wooden pickaxe.
3. Dig down/into a mountain and get 3 cobblestone with said wooden pickaxe.
4. Make stone pickaxe.
5. Get at least a stack of cobblestone.
6. Make 2 stone pickaxes/shovels/axes/swords.
7. Locate and slaughter 3 Sheep.
8. Locate and slaughter 3-6 cows or pigs.
9. Cut down as much wood as possible with remaining daylight.
10. Turn cobblestone-farming hole you made earlier into your living quarters, make and place bed 2 blocks away from any wall.
11. Spend your first night making furnaces and cooking charcoal to turn into torches, maybe starting to dig a mine to the side of your living quarters.
12. Thrive now that you have survived.

You are now pro at Minecraft and shouldn't ever have to worry about dying, getting caught off guard, starving or anything bad happening, as you are now prepared for it.

I remember my first day.
Home was a 4x6x2 hole in the ground which was made 2x larger by some green exploding sonofawhore who took advantage of my "forgot to but a dirt block over the hole"
