A lot of people who join the military do so because they want to help protect their country. The good ones don't get paid much, and they're ok with that. The ones who DO care about the money are usually those who were thick as all hell during school, never studied, and thought "fuck it, I'm going to join the military", because they're too ignorant to do anything more productive in their lives than to be cannon fodder.
