But generally in most bands.. bass players are easily replaced because they play the simplest progressions and more and more use picks and just play simple things that most could pick up a bass and play.

But people like Les Claypool, Flea etc. are amazing bassists, but they aren't very common.

Well i'm a bass player and i also play metal and all that greatness, but to say that we aren't important in other genres is just bullshit ..

i am have also been playing bass for about 3 years.i must say that sometimes jokes about bass players are funny,but at one point it gets annoying
