that's the lead guitarist from a band called Death. they're probably the most important metal band since Black Sabbath, because they literally created death metal and several of it's subgenres. you should check them out... some good gateway songs are The Philosopher, Pull the Plug, Misanthrope and Flesh and the Power it Holds.

what about Venom? They were pretty influential too

Death and Black Sabbath are two incredibly important band, but you can't forget what Dark Tranquillity did to the melodeath stage, or what Cannibal Corpse changed about the DM stage, or what Kreator did to thrash, etc. etc.

except i really disliked the shift Cannibal corpse brought. i much prefer what necrophagist did to Death metal in 2000, which was with almost no influence from CC-type bands. i find modern brutal death metal to be incredibly boring.

I like CC because of their lyrics and albumart. And I say art because that's exactly what it is.

trust me, death is by no means an "ordinary" death metal band. if your only experience with DM is bands like Cannibal Corpse or Brain Drill, you're in for a bit of a shock lol

it was alright, i just like their sound more during the 00's....sounds of a playground fading does suck though

ASOP is a good album but it doesn't give me the feeling I got the first time I heard them (about 10 years old), which was the album Colony. From Sounds of a Playground Fading there's only one song that I really enjoyed, Where The Dead Ships Dwell which is about their hometown Gothenburg. It also happens to be my hometown :)

Episode 666 is an amazing song from an amazing album :) Lol I sound like a hipster when it comes to In Flames but I just love their old sound so much. Still amazing live though (seen them twice).

lucky....they dont come to the US all that much, at least near me, im kinda far from a huge city like new york, chicago or los angeles

That's to bad. They are amazing live and Anders always speaks to the audiance like we're all his friends. Seen them twice in Gothenburg and he is as funny and outspoken as he is a great vocalist.

Yeah, he was incredible. But he had to fix his alcohol issues and I'm quite sure he will continue with his other band, Dimension Zero.

They were great, but I'm more into bands like Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity, At The Gates, One Man Army And The Undead Quartet, The Project Hate MCMXCIX, Scar Symmetry, etc.

as far as SS, i like them before they got nathan biggs to do vocals....they suck now

I also love the black metal band Naglfar from Umeå, a city that is very far up north.
You see, Sweden is kinda the size of an American state so we describe where we're from in cities, not states :) Like if an American is from Houston, it's more like that they present themselves as from Texas. Texas alone is like 80% of Sweden's mass...

Germany is cool. Their beer sucks though. Swedish and Danish beer is the best :)
But Germany has Wacken, we have Metaltown (1/2 size).

No, not at all.
Metallica, BFMV, Maiden, Pantera, stuff like that.
