To put it simply, just move to the music, that's what the bands want to see and that's what the point of a mosh is. It doesn't matter if you "dance" or shove people around, the goal is to become the music you're hearing.

The problem is with these so called metalheads just wanting to show off, compete and look tough by throwing elbows, kicks and fists at everyone WANTING to hurt someone. The reason people hate hardcore "dancing" or whatever it's called now is because too many of the douchebags that do it think they are "hardcore" by busting peoples faces open and dropkicking the guy across the room.

Metal may be an angry and dark form of music, but it's goal and purpose is to release those feelings in a positive manner. That's why it's great to see people headbanging, shoving and running in circles all over the place...and when someone gets hurt or knocked down, everyone around stops, picks them up, shakes hands and continues on...it releases all that energy and frustration while still maintaining a sense of respect and family with all those involved.

TL;DR? Have fun, show respect and don't be a douchebag.
