I don't need to buy armor, I make the stuff. Also, NEET means Not in Education, Employment, or Training, considering how I am in all of those things ( In college for Graphic Design and Game Art, employed, and I'm training for medieval armor reproduction and sport stylization) I'd hardly qualify.
Right now, yeah, when I improve to the point of sport grade I hope to make money off of it, when I improve even further to the point into living-history grade, that is when the money really starts rolling in. But it will always be a side thing, though. Pic related, it is living-history grade armor, it costs $32,000.
If you like google it and find your local chapter. Im pretty sure theres people area who would like some good armour. The more period looking the better. Just has to be up to par on their standards for use.
Yeah. Because of the weapons they use, and they rules they have, their armor does not have to be quite as high-quality as when I say "sport-grade", even though they can often be a sport. When I say sport-grade I mean HMB, historical medieval battle, which is full speed, steel weapons, full contact, and plays to the last man standing (literally, you defeat an opponent by knocking him to the ground). I am currently SCA-grade, but no offence to SCA, that means low-grade. The norm for SCA armor is anachronistic ( they are the society for creative anachronism, after all), ill fitted (fitted armor is expensive, $5-12k per sport-grade suit, and SCA fighters are usually on a budget), and ineffective outside of a showcase or SCA ( because they usually fight with rattan, and heavly restrict how you can fight, it does not need to be very effective). Now with all that said, many SCA fighters do buy sport-grade armor that would be fit for HMB, some SCA fighters are good enough for HMB, and often are HMB fighters. Forgive me if I come off as a snob, I don't mean to demean SCA.
Also, HMB fighters need repairs and replacement more often, which means you get more money per client with HMB.
Oh i know sca aint high grade. I was just thinking of a starting point for you to build up from. I wish you luck on it id love to do weapon forging myself. But you weren't snobby. Just well informed on what you do and want to do.
