kettle sallets are so weird looking though
User avatar #56 to #54 - galanorth [OP]ONLINE (4 hours ago) [-]
They had their purpose, it was so you could see through the space between the visor and bevor better.
User avatar #48 to #6 - nomil (7 hours ago) [-]
I bet you can't see **** from there
#49 to #48 - bdayskeleton (6 hours ago) [-]
Well normal people couldn't, but what you are looking at is the asian model.

But it's german
User avatar #51 to #50 - bdayskeleton (6 hours ago) [-]
Yeah but outsourcing is a bitch. I wonder how many hardworking German soldiers lost their jobs because of the asian model. A travesty I tell you.

I can now see why they were so angry they started the Wars

It's jousting armor, you don't need to see much. If a man-at-arms intended to fight on foot, or believed there was a reasonable chance of being dismounted, he would wear a helm with a movable visor, so that it could be raised whenever he needs to see or breathe.

Everything Germans make is amazing!

Thumbs for mentioning Germanic things.

**evilkingganon used "*roll picture*"**
**evilkingganon rolled image** thats a good way to catch heat stroke
User avatar #2 to #1 - galanorth [OP]ONLINE (01/11/2016) [-]
Not really. Armor acts as a heat-sink, and as long as it has a mirror polish it will work to reflect light much more than a satin or matte finish. The kit also has pretty good circulation if built right. Heat is a problem in armor, but not nearly as much as many think. I live in Florida, and even then when I have heavy kit on I don't start to suffer any negative symptoms from heat until after prolonged intense physical activity, when I haven't been hydrating properly, and when there is no breeze.

Some random dude wearing full plate at the beach, blinding any who dares look upon him due to his expertly polished armor
Only in florida

User avatar #21 to #13 - galanorth [OP]ONLINE (8 hours ago) [-]
Renn faires are disgusting.
User avatar #23 to #21 - gearhead (8 hours ago) [-]
**** you OP i work security for my local Renn Faire.
User avatar #26 to #23 - galanorth [OP]ONLINE (8 hours ago) [-]
So? Renn Faires are where a bunch of people who have no idea what they are talking about like to show up and spread misinformation. The last time I want to one, there were literally only two stands where the people there cared about truthful history. And don't even get me started on the people to go to them, a whole bunch of nerds in silly biker leather and a whole lotta furries. Not a single person there had a high-quality, authentic plate harness like what you see in the content. 0/10 I wish America had more living history events.
User avatar #29 to #26 - gearhead (8 hours ago) [-]
then you go to the wrong faires. mine is very authentic with a little bit of fantasy. its actually called the Renn. and Fantasy Faire. its really well done and has some historians as founding members. its the best ive ever been to but it has down sized
User avatar #31 to #29 - galanorth [OP]ONLINE (8 hours ago) [-]
Maybe my opinion on renn faires has just been from the bad ones, then.
User avatar #32 to #31 - gearhead (8 hours ago) [-]
I apologize for my rudeness as well as for the ****** experiences you have had at faires.

Is there any culture that had armor similar to the elite knight set from dark souls

with cloth and leather and **** , that would be rad
User avatar #38 to #37 - galanorth [OP]ONLINE (8 hours ago) [-]
Yes, European soldiers who could not afford a full harness of steel plate.

******* larpers
User avatar #30 to #15 - galanorth [OP]ONLINE (8 hours ago) [-]
Naw, if it were a larper he would be wearing crappy biker leather armor, and would likely be wearing a furry mask. This guy is wearing a $10-30k authentic plate harness.
