I think this movie and the trilogy was a masterpiece. and I love the books. I dont get why book elitists feel like the movie has to be exactly spot on with the book.

It doesnt, but in some instances (im looking at you eragon, series of unfortunate events, percy jackson) if you deviate too far from the text, you just ruin the story in every single way possible. Fortunately when these films deviate, its with well written filler that, in my personal opinion, improves upon them. I read the hobbit, and enjoyed it well enough i suppose, but i can honestly im enjoying the films so far more than the book. Guess ill have to wait and see if that holds true though.

I was watching Troy this morning, and I realized something, Sean Bean is in it, he plays Odysseus, but another Game of Thrones Alum is in it, James Cosmo, who plays Jeor Mormont in GoT. I realized this connection as Ned Stark stabbed lord command Mormont! Best ******* part, David Bienoff, one of the EP's on GoT, WROTE THE ******* SCREENPLAY FOR TROY!

Brian Cox is one of the most underrated actors. I don't know anyone else who can be so jovially evil.

Well at this stage in Bilbo's character development he is becoming more and more a heroic adventurer rather than a shy hobbit. So the worst internal struggle is behind him.

Actually...wouldn't he technically be right? They fought the orcs, fought through Goblin Town, traveled more than halfway there. Sure there are still the giant spiders and dragon to escape from but the only thing that they, The Company, have to deal with now are the spiders. Smaug just goes and ***** up Laketown and Bard offs him so actually none of the dwarves are in any other kind of trouble for this movie, just spiders some things that will happen IN the movie, but for this second movie (because god ******* knows The Hobbit NEEDED to be a 3 parter ) Bilbo's pretty much spot on.

To be honest i was a little disappointed by The Hobbit movie. As I watched it things just kept getting further and further from the adventure in the book. I guess the original was just too bland for Hollywood, but it's one of my childhood favorites read to me by my grandmother, and to see all that extra weird story crow-barred in like that really unsettled me.
