The man who had once defined the top lane. One of the few players to have played in Every Single World Championship. Finals of every LCS split. Renown Streamer. Renown Arsonist.
Marcus "Dyrus" Hill. Top Lane for TSM. It was a good run.
I don't play league
heck, I don't even play videogames obsessively every day
BUT that dude is appearantly the best, swamping ******* of hours into playing games competetively and leaving lots of friends and fans behind by stopping.
its laughable to cry if your mom tells you to stop playing videogames all day
but its not if that **** becomes a career for someone. someone with passion not a random casual like you.
I agree with your points and reasons about putting hours in, but since you said you dont follow league yourself i'll fill you in, Dyrus is no where near the best. never has been, and now never will be. He's only considered above average in the context of NA which is seen as a bad region internationally. If you want to see true top lane legends, go to youtube and search, Flame, Acorn, Looper, SMEB, and Save. Dyrus is living proof that you can put as many hours in as he has, and still not be within the top 10 and for those wondering, I'll gladly provide a list of 10 other top lane "Legends" are more accomplished and would wreck him 1v1 in lane
Well, dude, no. I'm french and it's just that we take a side. When europeans play, we are for europeans, when TSM plays agaisnt KT, we cheers for NA.. etc
We just take a side for what we like for the actual play, and if they loose, we will applause the winner, of course.
I'm not fan of what french people do in games, they tend to be really ****** , with bad behavior, but for these worlds damn dude, we rock. Even our commentators are great.
yeah, cheer for the team you like, but don't boo the teams you don't - especially when they win and are bowing to you after or when they are walking onto the stage. Learn some respect.
I watched it during worlds. It hit my feels. To be honest, his performance has declined over the past few years, but his participation in League has turned him into a legend. His speech was sad and heart wrenching. To go out on the world stage with only 1 win in group stages, and the last game in the group stage was a loss, was really sad. His interview was filled with him worried about letting his fans down. He is a good guy, but the current meta has not served Dyrus or TSM well. We will miss your fantastic personality. Godspeed Dyrus.
I mean, you might think that if you've only been watching lcs since last year or something, but anyone who's been with the scene for a while knows that TSM's golden age was in a lot of ways built on Dyrus. He was never the super impressive mechanical carry but always the hyper consistent ROCK in the toplane. sure his performance has fallen over the last year and a half, but he knew that last year and wanted to retire then, but his team was unable to find a suitable replacement for him. He sacrificed his chance to go out on top to do what his team needed of him and I think that says a lot about what kind of player he is. Also, if you really wanna tell me he's NEVER been a strong player, watch game 5 vs LMQ NALCS finals 2014 and tell me he wasn't a god in that game that took them to worlds.
funnily enough I think Thorin puts it better than I possibly could. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoI4N677-mQ
As for him being a dick, he had anger issues yes, but worked very hard to overcome them and he's not had a notable outbreak in years that i've seen. His persona sometimes carried arrogance but I think that was more for the show than anything, as in whenever he didn't live up he was always apologizing to the fans for his perceived shortcomings.
Sorry for the wall of text, but I didn't thing "lel ur wrong" was enough of a reply.
Man, I've seen this three times already today and it hits me everytime. I watched it live and about an hour later I had to watch it again to fully grasp what he was saying. It hurts a little when he apologies for letting his fans down. He let no one down. That magnificent man did his best and gave it his all for five world championships. He has nothing to feel bad about with accomplishments like that.
He's carried a huge burden, being the face of pro League gaming and TSM, as well as (arguably) the best player on TSM.
He's always performed consistently and his level of skill is misrepresented by the other TSM members.
I really do hope he finds success in his future endeavors and gets a new start on his life. He's been an inspiration and impactful in the world. It's time he's allowed to rest from that.
