your name is dickson?
User avatar #20 to #19 - uglitch (03/17/2013) [-]
Yes it is. It used to be a popular name in Hong Kong, where I was born, so my parents named me Dickson. :)

"Please click subscribe on my twitch channel so I can see how many people to expect on the 28th. Depending on the result the event may or may not happen."
Directly from reddit, why are you doing this event based on how many subscribers you get...? Shouldn't you be humble and do this no matter the viewer count you get?
User avatar #14 to #13 - uglitch (03/15/2013) [-]
The main point of doing this is to draw attention towards this event and organization. If I'm only streaming for one or two people there really isn't a point in doing so. I'm only doing it based on subscription because I need a baseline of how many people to expect. Not because I want publicity myself.

To leave pointers on streaming, I recommend you watch some streamers yourself. Especially gbay99 and choleraninja (those are their youtube names, look em up) are enjoyable to watch. Also, maybe it's a good idea to have some friends online on different parts of your stream so you can have some interaction. Play some soft music in the background, but nothing to extreme like deathmetal or extreme dubstep or something like that.

Also, for your health, You need to have a lot of liquids near you. Not like energy drink or that kind of stuff, but like fruit juice and water. Make sure you have eaten a lot before the stream so you'll feel hungry much later. That's about all I can give you.

I don't really understand why this is getting thumbed down. Can someone bring me to understanding why?
User avatar #11 to #5 - theincorrigibleone (03/15/2013) [-]
This is FunnyJunk. People will thumb down stuff just to thumb it down. =\
While your cause is noble, FunnyJunk doesn't exactly have the right audience for this.

Can you maybe direct me to a more appropriate place to post this so it can be noticed?

I don't really know. Perhaps Reddit. They can be a little more open to such things.

Where are you going to stream this? If it's on You need to login to view this link I would have some frind of mine to moderate the chat if lots of people show up; also they have some neat bots that you can give commands to so they give the links to donate or some info in what are you doing periodically.

I can't give a much more advice besides that. I never streamed nothing myself, I wish you have luck with your project.

I'd like to have this stream happen, but if not enough people know about this I may just end up cancelling. If this happens though, I'll be streaming on twitch.tv. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe you can put the name of your channel on the various pages you have provided. That way people can follow you in advance and they will get notified the moment you start the stream; it can also give you a rough aproximation of the number of people who will follow the event.

Please click subscribe if you're planning on joining me on the 28th so I have an idea of how many people to expect. Thanks.

Following you right now. Hope to see you streaming the 28.

Why not spend 30 hours doing actual work then give the money? 30 hours of gaming really isn't impressive at all, maybe back when games just starting coming out, but now with all the game zombies, it isn't uncommon for a lot to even simply forget to eat, So I don't know who thought of the idea SINCE THEY DON'T EAT I WON'T,THAT'LL get people to give money, but it seems to be a one of the stupidest things I can imagine.

I am currently a full time student with no job. I have put in 50 bucks myself in cash (it won't show up on the website) but I'd like to do more in terms of helping. This is my 4th year doing the 30 year famine. In the previous years I've given up what I can out of my paychecks to help with the cause but have found that the community is very willing to help out. They just don't know about it. The streaming is mainly just for awareness. Any added donations is a bonus.

Well good luck with your endeavor
