I'm about an hour into the game so far, and I can honestly say I can't see what all the hype is. So far it's just a bunch of reading text and whatnot. Then again, I have an incredibly short attention span, so that could be it too. Am I missing something in the game or what?

Fair enough. I'll say it's the best (and only one I know of) that deals with disabilities.
It also was the only one I've read where I didn't just feel like I was a god pretending to play a man (My one beef with F/SN which I love outside of Shirou's OP nature). And it also creates some of the most genuinely flawed female protagonists.
I'd say the writing is above average but not the best, so if the above doesn't sell you, or you're looking for super action kung fu ninja to pop out of the walls, you're in for a bad time. If you want something of a similar nature but more mystery/adventure try Ever17

Most of the impact is in the ends of the stories. it's also interesting to see who's story you get based solely on the decision you make. But like I said the best parts are in the ends, that make you want to play it again and again
