OK everyone! Time for somebody to sell the idea of this "Katawashoujo"-thing to me!

I read the wiki article, and it just seems like an elaborate Hentai dating-sim to me.
Is that what it is? Whats the entertaining part of it?
Not trying to troll, just wanting somebody to explain the fun part of it. I dont wanna waste my time getting a hold of it, if i wont find it entertaining y'know.

Haven't played it either, myself, but apparently it goes into how the girls feel about their disabilities, and themselves, so feels no doubt abound there. Some of their disabilities arise from tragedy, IIRC, so yeah. As somebody put it in a newer comment, you'll come for the fapping, but stay for the feels.

Everyone makes jokes about this game with fake screen caps (like this one). This game is less like a dating sim and more like a Visual novel where you occasionally make a decision. I originally played the game thinking it had funny scenes like in all the screen caps but I found out it was actually a very deep and moving story so i kept playing it. If you don't like reading or hate feels you probably wont like this game. You can actually turn off the sex if you feel that it will ruin the experience if you want or don't like the idea that some of the have bodily disabilities. The game itself is little about the disabilities but more about the implications of them and how people move on (or dont). I got like 50 hours in it and 100% the game but most of that is reading. Anyway decide from that but i can't stress enough that this is basically a book with pictures and the odd sec scene (if your lucky) not a hentai dating sim

i agree with this. i had never played a galgame or erogame or whatever u want to call it, but it is more like reading a book. the decisions are very spread out, and the romantic encounters are just that. they are not porn scripts.

i hope you arent a clannad hater or anything because i was thinking the same thing. I tried to connect between the two and enjoy both of them. Clannad is visual novel game that gave you different routes as well to choose from (although there arent any disabilities that i know of). and to be honest, i agree completely with what youve said. Katawa Shoujo might be a lot of reading, but it is totally worth it.

For me, the sex scenes didn't actually ruin it, it intensified the romance in some sort of the way, it wasn't like "sexy" sex, it was love making. And Lilly master race.

It's hard to explain and I guess you can't really say more than what you'll probablyfind everywhere else. Most of the people have fapping in mind when they play it, but once the game progresses you actually start feeling things for the characters and start to care about the story.

I don't really know what more to say than that you should jsut try it out and get started and I promise you there will be feels.

i think this some sort of effect might come helpful in the world of psychology dont you think so? searching something to "fap" to, and instead of that, finding something that makes you express emotions like caring.

Indeed. This game has really affected my life... I played the routs as such:
Emi
Rin
Lilly
Shizune
Hanako
Emi is the kind of girl I would want, not too shy, positive and happy, yet I actually felt as if I was needed since she had the history she has. (wont spoil in case someone hasn't played it)

Rin didn't really appeal to me as much, although I loved her route. He style in general was awesome, although she's more of a bro than a waifu.
Lilly's route I really liked as it was actually love that brought them together as well as that girlish hidden personality but strict outside.
Shizune's route gave me the ending I would most like to end up with in my real life and I love the little childish side of competing about everything. Personally I love debating and usually start them based on the silliest of things. Would not like as a waifu however.

Hanako's route is the one that changed me. I played her route little by little before I went to bed, and when I had turned of my laptop and closed my eyes to sleep I could sometimes feel them tear up because I had been thinking about Hanako and her life. It did make me a little depressed and I guess I still am (I finished it 4 days ago) but I still feel happy. And as a lot of people are saying, now that I've finished her route I can't bare myself to play the game again or delete it because it feels as if I would abandon or cheat on her.
(continuation in next comment, I hate that I have to wait 2 minutes between each...)

Today was the first day in school since I finished her route and just after one class my friends started wondering what my problem was since I was so quiet. I wasn't thinking about the game or Hanako, I didn't become that obsessed, but now I'm just generally thinking about my life and how I would like it to progress. It was really an eyeopener for me and I know that now since I've finished this game I will really start taking my life much more seriously.
