My forensic teacher in high school had a long eared bunny when she was a little girl. No one in her family knew that you have to clean their ears, or else the built up smell attracts flies who lay eggs in the ears. The eggs hatched and her bunny was eaten alive from the inside out over the course of a week.

She said "we were all playing with him one night before we went to bed. The next morning I picked him up and my hand went through the bottom and there was blood and maggots everywhere." Her parents didn't tell her for 30 years that the bunny was still alive when they took it to the vet to have him euthanized. Need I remind you she was 7 when this happened.

And that's why I worry about these bunnies. They look like they have little protection over their ear holes to keep flies out.

This is actually German, it was just a one-off, not a different breed. It was stood on by a camera man.

Perhaps if they could refrain from selfishly cutting them off for their lucky rabbits feet this sort of atrocity wouldn't happen.

What's the point of this, the ears are the cutest part of a bunny.
