THE
Rewind to ; The glory days. The days of
Halo 2 online. From it' s release up until the Xbox 360' s
debut, Halo 2 was the single most popular game on the
original xbox, and cleared the path for
gaming as we know it today. That is the setting for this
Legendary' glitch.
On the Halo 2 multiplayer map of Lockout; an infamous tale
had spawned. It all started with a simple game on Lockout.
People hagging away, likely shouting profanities; Typical stuff.
But, in this one game, something strange had happened.
Out of nowhere, what appeared to be a player, had spawned on
the map. The game wasn' t open to join, and he/ she didn' t show
up on the scoreboard.
This extra player
was depicted as a White Spartan. The player would glide, as
opposed to walk.
All kills that this player made would be labelled as "Killed
by the Guardians", yet the cause of death was typically that
of a Plasma Grenade. The player, dubbed the Ghost of
Lockout, was also impervious to any form of attack.
Curious.
There are theories as to the cause of this Ghost,
such as it being a hoax, created by mods. Or, an error
in the netcode. However, the most popular one is that
the Ghost is caused by severe network stress, causing
this glitch. This seems to be the most likely, due to
the fact that this has been replicated in other events,
and even on to Halo 3. To this day, it is one of the
most legendary Halo glitches of all time.
