I like how the Didact basically blew up Nevada, but the Chief "Lost more than any of us."

I've got a feeling there's still a little piece of her left, and she'll come back as a human with the Forerunner tech that the Librarian was talking about.

So. Halsey took the Spartan-II kids at age six and had Menedez train them in combat while she handled the science stuff of augmentation and Mjolnir armour. Halsey and Menedez were looked at by the 33 surviving Spartan-IIs as mother- and father-figures, respectively. This is where shit gets weird. John-117 was always Halsey's favourite, perhaps primarily because he personally rescued her from the heart of a Covenant flagship while Blue Team cleared an exit, as seen in Halo Legends. Cortana is an AI created from a clone of Halsey's brain. They share a voice, and Cortana projects herself as a younger version of Halsey (though why she went from appearing to be wearing a full-body suit to appearing naked without girly parts between 3 and 4 is beyond me). Cortana is a younger Halsey. Perhaps their personalities are different, but Halsey may just have grown cynical with age. Chief was assigned Cortana's protector at the start of Combat Evolved, and by the ending to Halo 4, we can clearly see Cortana feels to the greatest extent what an AI construct can feel for a super soldier, and while Chief may not be good at expressing himself, there's got to be something somewhere inside of him that feels love for her. Ergo, Chief is in love with his mother-figure. Chief has an Oedipus Complex. While they are two separate beings, there's no doubt in my mind this will become the butt of many jokes come Halo 5 or 6, which is unfortunate, but not ultimately detrimental. And let's be honest, what I personally would really like to see is fragments of Cortana's mind recovered from the Didact's ship and then those to be implanted in a biological clone of Halsey with accelerated ageing, giving Cortana a biological physical form. In my mind this creates a moment of sacrifice for Cortana; to lose her vast knowledge to finally be with John.

I finally had the time to finish this yesterday, right as my gf an her family came over and I shed some manly tears. Her father thinks I am a weirdo, but her brother sat next to me and said "I know that feel bro".

I have to say, Cortana is really fucking attractive in Halo 4.
