But if earth is spinning and orbiting sun (and sun the galaxy), isn't a launched portal moving thousands of kilometers per second?

Portals acceleration can't be changed within the parameters of a variable that valve hasn't told us.

also, portals are the same size, and as a result, a platform with a portal going at the same rate could only have a small portion of the portal inside the other portal.

I dunno where this leaves us but I felt like saying there was science in this ****.

yes but in portal 1 if you have a portal placed on a platform and it moves the portal is then destroyed, also even if this isn't the case whenever another portal comes into contact with another portal the portal is destroyed anyway. Hence you can't place portals in portals with the portal gun and the second portal simply fails to form and once the portal inside the box contacts the other it would just close the portal probably cutting the end of the box of. or the portal would not move forward as if it was just hitting a wall

Well assuming the door stays shut it'll just stop inside the portal since it won't go any further.

1) if you let go it would stay still, there is an equal amount of force pulling it up as there is pushing it down.
2) if portals could be moved this would lead to the rod being compressed in on itself possible to the point where molecules themselves were forced to touch, thin big boom.
3) just like what happens to the cameras, the road would be cut off at that point.

pardon but one the first one i don't see the logic. In a 0 gravity situation then yes it would stay still, equal forces, but include gravity and it will actually move (assuming it is parallel to the center of gravity) in the direction of the gravity... or am i missing a factor?

A) mindblow.jpg
B) The rod would locate like this ()-_() just imagine the left portal is a little more down. Because of the rod not being connected to itself anymore, it would procceed to fall down.
C) The rod wouldnt connect anymore, thus just falling down.

A) Pole falls into infinity

B) Pole is compressed and stretched if the orange portal gets closer and farther respectively

C) Pole gets sliced cleanly

A. It falls, just like Chell does. The fact that they are connected doesn't change anything.
B. It functions like a support pole.
C. This is unknowable because the game deliberately avoids telling us what happens when a portal is destroyed with something inside it. To avoid constantly killing the player, one is simply pushed out.

Technically none of these could happen in the first place because portals break the law of conservation of momentum and couldn't exist like they do in the game at all.

yet....under certain circumstances subatomic particles such as electrons are able to instantaneously communicate with each other regardless of the distance separating them. It doesn't matter whether they are 10 feet or 10 billion miles apart.

That is quantum entanglement, and it's going to take a bit of explaining how you think it's is going lead to teleporting. Also, it isn't just subatomic particles that have been observed behaving this way.

For the blue portal to fit into the box, The box has to be bigger than the portal itself. And since the portals have the same dimensions, The box wouldn't fit into the orange portal.

I had the same thought at first about the dimensions.

There's probably some sort of rule keeping a blue portal from opening on a thin, mobile surface... but even if it did, the box would just stop part-way through the orange portal when it hits it's own lid. Not that hard.
