Yeah, I know, I'm a Sonic fan myself. It's obvious they are just barely starting to slap themselves and see what is a good way to do it, high speed and quick time events that should keep you alert for anything, but... Shadow the Hedgehog... and then, Sonic Heroes (okay, but not great)... Sonic Genesis, coincided with Sonic '06... it's kind of hard to believe they actually understand they made a mistake in the first place!
Sonic Adventure was rushed, still plays beautifully (Y'know, hardware limitations aside, only looking at gameplay) Sonic Adventure 2 was somewhat rushed, this "game" was given time enough to at least make it playable, it's NOT playable, it has a superior platform, was given a somewhat descent engine, sure, it was obviously not ready when it was released, but plenty of games were in the same position with the same time frame and came out with roses and platinum compared to this pile! The only thing I can think of is the developers either never programmed for a video game before, or they were sitting on their hands for a descent portion of their development time. It has no excuses.
And many more have succeeded where they failed. And the whole "Let's see you do X with Y constraints" comeback doesn't apply here, no, I'm not a developer or a programer, but I am the consumer, the party that they're trying to appeal to, the most important and critical party, if the consumer is unsatisfied then the programmers fail. This isn't a third grade assignment where you praise them for trying.
Might I also point out that, that game was rushed because of 3 reasons.
1) The fans were impatient.
2) Microsoft Force them to make it a launch title for the Xbox 360 or they would cancel there contract with SEGA.
3) Yuji Naka Resigned from SEGA during that time.
I'd like to see you complete a game for the next generation in just a years time.
Besides that game is 6 years old. Just let it die in peace.
