there was no movie

I actually enjoyed that movie quite a bit, but that's because I never read the books...and that I was 11 years old. When I think back at it, it wasn't good, and I have yet to read the books.
User avatar #391 to #12 - monkeysniper (08/10/2013) [-]
even if they did skip important parts I'd be thrilled for a sequel, I'd prefer a sequel with a few flaws than no sequel at all

I saw the movie before reading the books, and I liked it alot. But after reading the books, I became aware of how many important facts and bits of the story that they completely skipped
User avatar #258 to #39 - pabloch (08/09/2013) [-]
I read the books BECAUSE of the movie, now I hate the movie for not making justice to such a great story

At least they killed the Ra'zac so there aint gonna be a sequel
They ruined Roran for me
User avatar #263 to #261 - pabloch (08/09/2013) [-]
Roran is the most badass guy in the series, even including eragon in the equation, actual spoiler, don't open if you haven't read eragon >> the guy was just a ******* farmer and turned into one of the best warriors practically overnight

I read them

I don't think murtaugh counts, he got most of his power from galbatorix, btw I only read up until the third book, if there is a fourth I haven't read it yet

Nope, it's a cycle which means 4
User avatar #279 to #275 - pabloch (08/09/2013) [-]
Well Paolini did intend it to be a trilogy, but added a 4th book, from my viewpoint thre could have been 7 books more, I don't know when it ends hhaha
User avatar #280 to #279 - swiiftninja (08/09/2013) [-]
No I'm glad it ended when it did
He is writing more book, just not about Eragon, set in the same world though
User avatar #284 to #280 - pabloch (08/09/2013) [-]
Well Eragon's destiny was to leave Palancar Valley and never return, do you know if it's set in Palancar or someplace else? because if it's elsewhere Eragon might make an appearance and I would probably cum if that happened

nope not even the zombies were the same. Although I really wouldn't call them zombies, clearly infected but that's a pet peeve of mine and you guys can call them what you want.

yeah the people said they only wanted the tittle and the movie had nothing to do with the book or something. well at least that is what i heard
User avatar #43 to #42 - kingrayne (08/09/2013) [-]
No, it was definitely a book to film adaptation - the movie poster is on the books- and was stated to be an adaptation.
User avatar #44 to #43 - zpryed (08/09/2013) [-]
alright thanks for clearing that up for me
User avatar #171 to #24 - undeadwill (08/09/2013) [-]
The movie isn't even founded in reality

To be fair, adapting World War Z would be quite problematic due to its narrative, and the film underwent multiple rewrites just to get it out. It's probable that they started with the plan to follow the book, but ran into troubles trying to do so.
#260 to #24 - ryuryu (08/09/2013) [-]
That one could NOT have been. If you read the books ( I have not, this is what someone told me) is it's a bunch of short stories from various survivors. That would be ******* hard to pull off well.
#262 to #24 - anon (08/09/2013) [-]
you can't make a movie through several different perspectives though. It would be **** .
User avatar #302 to #24 - elmarcocfc (08/09/2013) [-]
I actually thought this movie was really great.
#404 to #24 - anon (08/10/2013) [-]
It wasn't supposed to be like the book. The book is a U.N. report about World War Z and it's kinda hard to turn a U.N. report into a movie, which is why they did a single story that followed some of the details in the book as well as mentioned details from the book. It was never supposed to be an exact adaptation of the book. I don't understand why no one seems to get that.
#32 to #24 - anon (08/09/2013) [-]
Didn't read the book, so I had no expectations of the movie.
It was a great movie, but probly not so much if you read the book.
User avatar #33 to #32 - kingrayne (08/09/2013) [-]
Dear god its a genocide if you've read the book.
#439 to #33 - anon (08/10/2013) [-]
imo the book was boring as **** . The movie will actually help the book.
#413 to #33 - anon (08/10/2013) [-]
It was a good movie and I have read the book. I'm usually the first person to say the book was better and it was but they did a good job with the movie. It's only a bad movie if you were expecting the exact same that happened in the book. I watched the movie knowing it wasn't going to be like the book just set in the same world with the same events but with one main character with his own story. If you look at the movie as one individuals story set in the universe of the book it's a really good movie. I have no clue why so many people dislike the movie. It's hard to make a move about a U.N. report.

Good. I was so ******* happy that they didn't base it too much off the book.

I'm the 1% who read the book and was still able to enjoy the movie. But I'd known to compartmentalize beforehand, knowing it was different. I couldn't imagine going into that expecting the book and getting that. Good movie in it's own right, though.
User avatar #87 to #24 - quaggsire (08/09/2013) [-]
The director of WWZ said himself the movie only shared the same title as the book. Nonetheless I found it enjoyable for a popcorn summer movie.
(Now hate me)
User avatar #126 to #24 - akkere (08/09/2013) [-]
I didn't think it was a bad movie, but I really hated the fact that the movie was literally -"Yeah, let's just, pluck the title from this already popular thing and use it to help market this script we have."
I don't care if it was a good or bad script; cheap marketing strategy is cheap.

Max Brooks himself even mentioned how the producers didn't even bother to approach him with the script until after filming, and that just made him really upset.

I can't really imagine a movie based on the game. There are so many possibilities and the main story is about 20 hours long, I think the game is a better choice of media for it.

To be fair, Mark Wahlberg is a good actor and he played his role well.. but god damn that script/directors work was completely ****** awful.

There are films that can be saved by Director's cut edition which gives new meaning to the movie. But this unholy rotten piece of cow **** couldn't be saved even by the Gods of Olympus..
