No, it's because people tend to watch what they agree with, not the truth. Everyone knows that the media fabricates news, but it doesn't matter because they mix it in with real news, so people tend to blindly follow it because they're agreeing with what is being said, regaurdless of validity. They just use clever editing and the lack thereof to shift issues to one side or the other. It's not about conveying information anymore. It's about viewers because viewers equal money. There's no manipulation of people's minds, at least not forced, everything that people believe is voluntarily accepted. We're like sheep.

The thing that is preventing a revolution isn't just that, but also the fact that everyone SAYS they want such a thing, but nobody DOES anything about it. We rant and bicker at each other endlessly but we forget about it when the next shiny bit of info shows itself. Society itself has a very prominent say in what happens, it's just that each and every person loves THEIR Representatives and Senators and dislikes all the rest and congress as a whole. We continue to re-elect the same congress members because none of us actually vote for others because we all love our government on a state level.

We need a new way to take congress off of it's high horse that doesn't involve asking congress to give itself less power, because they'll never do it.
