Some book Stannis quotes:

“Renly offered me a peach. At our parley. Mocked me, defied me, threatened me, and offered me a peach. I thought he was drawing a blade and went for mine own. Was that his purpose, to make me show fear? Or was it one of his pointless jests? When he spoke of how sweet the peach was, did his words have some hidden meaning?” [The king gave a shake of the head, like a dog shaking a rabbit to snap its neck.] “Only Renly could vex me with a piece of fruit. He brought his doom on himself with his treason, but I did love him, Davos. I know that now. I swear, I will go to my grave thinking of my brother’s peach.”

“Renly and his peach. In my dreams I see the juice running from his mouth, the blood from his throat. If he had done his duty by his brother, we would have smashed Lord Tywin. A victory even Robert could be proud of."[

To be fair....

Book Stannis is ******* neat. We like him.

Show Stannis is COMPLETELY different.

I like both as characters, but you cannot "like" show Stannis. He is a man consumed by ambition, just a more direct Littlefinger.

Well, this quote shows that book Stannis would have done the same if he brought his kid with him in the books, like he did in the show.

Another thing that proves this is that it was Martin's idea to kill Shireen.

If I must sacrifice one child to the flames to save a million from the dark (referring to white walkers)

not

If I must sacrifice one child to the flames to save the North and myself from the boltons

But if they don't survive now, they won't be able to save a million from the dark, would they?

Then they'd return to the wall to survive and fight the white walkers instead.

Davos said they can't return back. And they can't go forward.

"Never asked to be king"

Decides to fight a war to become king rather than backing another contender as advisor. He doesn't care for the people, he cares for the power.

Technically it was his by right as Roberts eldest brother. Since Joffery wasn't actually a Baratheon the oldest male heir to the Baretheon family AKA Stannis, is the "True" king of Westeros.

In Westoros maybe, but I always thought the crown followed the line directly, father to child, with the queen standing in as regent. it happened a few times in our own history. Seems to me there would be quite a few problems if the dead kings third cousin twice removed on his mothers aunts sisters brothers friends friend from highschools side could claim equal right to the throne because they are older.

By right, if Cersei's children are not Robert's, then they have no claim to the throne through blood. Cersei's claim would be null because she cheated on the king and ***** her brother.

So, the two Baratheons left are Stannis and Renly. Stannis is the older brother, and that makes him the rightful king by the laws of Westeroes.

However, the power struggle is actually very historically accurate if you look at how succession works in Empires from our real history. You can't necessarily judge Westeroes by Medieval Europe standards, they're similar but not the same. Many Empires from around the world, particularly the Mongol empire, chose the most powerful/promising relative of the previous king/quahan/khan/whatever to take command.

Poor guy's gonna be devastated when he finds out he's not really Azor Ahai reborn.

I read a very Interesting "Jaime Lannister is really AA reborn" theory that gave a lot of facts and convincing evidence. I personally like that idea more than the others

I hope George burns in the same fire he put Shireen Baratheon.
