Chekhov declared that every segment of a narrative must be irreplaceable, with everything else be removed. If not, you pollute the story with meaningless things. One thing you must understand is that a TV show and movies are narrative figures, they must tell stories. It is not like a picture.

If you place a rifle on the wall, it must go off within the next chapter or two. If the rifle is never fired, then it should not be in the narrative in the first place. If there is no reason for a character to be naked, no reason for a character to have sex, then the scene is wasted and the point of the narrative muddled. The scene where Little Finger narrates his grandiose view on life, the nudity and sex helped drive home his statements. When Oberyn was in the middle of the four way between his wife and the two prostitutes, it helped establish his character and gave insight to to his people's culture. When Danerus was ******** in the woods, it established that she had a meal that didn't agree with her and had zero ******* impact on anything she did ever again in the story. It didn't establish anything about her character, it didn't establish anything new about the world (we knew the world was crapsuck considerably earlier than that), it had no cultural impact, and it didn't bring up any important plot points

I love Martin's work, but he puts extra detail where none is needed. Scenes that are unimportant, that do nothing to help the story. It happens quite a lot in fantasy. Tolkien could have afforded to slim down some of those walking scenes, for example. If a scene does NOT ******* REQUIRE that character to be naked, then she should not be naked.
