It's not about ninjas. It's a fantasy story. The back of the first volume reads as follows:

"For Durzo Blin, assassinaiton is an art - and he is the city's most accomplished artist.

For Azoth, survival is prcarious. Something you never take for granted. As a guild rat, he's grown up in the slums and learned to judge people quickly - and to take risks. Risks like apprenticing himself to Durzo Blint.

But to be accepted, Azoth must turn his back on his old life and embrace a new identity and name. As Kylar Stern, he must learn to navigate the assassins' world of dangerous politics and strange magics - and to cultivate a flair for death".

Basically, it's about an assassin living in a city full of conspiracy and murder. If you like Game of Thrones, you'll like this. And no, you're not gonna find similarities with Assassin's Creed. In fact, the main character breaks every rule in the book when it comes to how Altair, Ezio, and Connor lived.

I don't know which books i like better, between this trilogy and the lightbringer trilogy, but MY GOODNESS are these books fantastic.

I've read pretty much all and any fantasy books, like LOTR, The Hobbit, i mean, alot of stuff. Also a recommendation, The Coldfire trilogy is a VERY good read. Sorry, nerding out here, but now that I know other people enjoy these books on Fj it makes me happy

Oh and the ending of Beyond the Shadows made me cry. and I am a man. No shame, no shame at all.

The first one was amazing, the second one was great, and the third one got a little too generic fantasy for my tastes. I mean book one set the whole tone as an assassin story about the ******** that is the warren's and such, but by the time we got to Azoth (or Kyler, whatever you prefer) being some noble magical ultra being of justice it started to get a little cheesy.
