Reading is insanely boring, on numerous occasions I've tried to read stuff like Harry Potter, or Game of Thrones and I can't get past the first 5 pages without being bored out of my mind.
The only book I've ever read all the way through (this includes for school) is The Road.
Even then, I felt like the movie was better than the book.
Inb4 books give more detail
Inb4 movies and books are totally different
Some people just don't get the same effect reading books. The red thumbs are just self-absorbed people who can't imagine anyone experiencing the world differently than them.
I love books. Once I find a good pace, the words stop being words and the sentences literally paint a picture in my mind. It's just how my mind works. At the same time, if you show me a piece of modern art, I will have no clue what it means. I'm just not wired that way. And of course movies and books are different, what would be the point of a movie that just treated the book like a script? Ever seen a movie that simply quoted Shakespeare page by page? They suck.
On that note, I'll say this : "Modern art does not make sense TO ME". Just the same as reading is boring TO YOU. People experience life differently - the fruit I call sweet you may call bitter, and neither of us is wrong. I just gotta recommend: force yourself through one good book (preferably one you haven't seen a movie or show of yet). The first pages are always boring, normally the first chapters (or entire first books for larger series) is boring. I had to retry reading the first Harry Potter book six times because it was so painfully boring until about 2/3 of the way through.
That was like me when I was watching Blue Mountain state on Netflix... Watched all 39 episodes in 10 hours.... Just sat there and pondered after because the show was so perfect and I was really upset because I knew it was cancelled and It it will be a while before they make a movie for it and I know for sure spike won't renew them for season 4 because the show promotes drugs and other bad things...
Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles. There's just some sort of storytelling magic going on that makes time fly by. I've already shamelessly read through to two sunrises.
I hate it when I do that. You remember a lot less that way. Imagine trying to remember a whole day, I know I can't. Now if you spend all day watching a book or a netflix, then you stand no better chance of remembering it than the average day.
